Devils Suffer First League Loss

The Blue Devils picked the wrong opponent to play their worst defense of the season, and the visitors lost to the Armada Tigers 67-57 in league action Friday night. The BWAC loss was the first of the season for Richmond, who dropped into a first place tie with Armada in the conference at 7-1. Richmond now stands at 11-2 overall.

"We were just outplayed, plain and simple", said Coach Barnes on the loss. They killed us on the glass, the consistently put the ball in the paint, and they beat us in every single statistical category. They beat us pretty much every way possible, and I'm responsible for that. Hopefully, we can regroup, make some changes, and move forward." [More]
JV Team wins on the Road, Continues to Improve

The JV team improved to 8-3 this season after defeating Almont this week. Coaches John Baerwolf and Josh Fuller have been very impressed with the team's progress. "It's a great group of kids, and we really enjoy working with them", admitted Coach Baerwolf recently. "We've been really playing well. We've got great kids, they work hard in practice, and they really get along. That kind of chemistry translates to solid play on the court during games." The team has already exceeded last year's win total, with the season at the halfway point. The JV team looks forward to games this week against Yale (Tuesday) and Armada (Thursday). Both games will begin about 6:00pm.
Middle School Season Ends Tuesday

On Tuesday, Feb 2, Richmond's middle school teams travel to Yale to take on the Bulldogs in their final contests of the 2009-2010 campaign. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams have improved dramatically throughout the season. "We are really excited to see the continued growth and development of our middle school teams", explained Coach Barnes recently. "Hopefully, these young men will continue to improve in the off-season, through open-gyms and summer camps." Congrats to all the middle school players and coaches for a job well done!
