New TEAM Room Completed Just In Time

11/24/2008

When tryouts were completed and the Freshmen, JV and Varsity teams reported on the first day of practice, they were greeted by the newly renovated basketball team room. This project has been the brainchild of the coaching staff for some time, and finally came to fruition this past summer and fall when the coaching staff fundraised over $13,000 to complete the project and spent countless hours taking the project from concept to reality.

"Obviously, we're all really excited about how this endeavor turned out", said Coach Barnes when asked about the new facility. "Of course, we're really proud of the facility we've built. But we're also really proud that we made this happen in these tough economic times, and didn't ask the school district for a dime. To fund this project completely by work on the part of our coaching staff says a lot about how much we care about this program and this community. These coaches have always gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving this district, and this new TEAM room is a true testament to our shared vision as a staff."

The players are enjoying the new facility as well. Josh Queen recently stated: "It's sweet". Senior Chris Schroudt added: "It's a good addition to our program and it makes arriving at practice a lot more enjoyable." Senior Matt

Schwab added these thought's: "It's a great room. I think our team needed something like this. It feels like a second home. After all, this team is my second family.

Coach Varga on the new TEAM room: "It will absolutely be the best locker room in the conference and in the area. I hope the players are as motivated by the new room as our coaches are. As an alumni and former player, I think this new facility is a great statement of how far the program has come in the last few years. Motivational... statement of where the program ahs come from.

The new TEAM room includes and brand new flooring system complete with logo, new whiteboards for teaching purposes, and brand new varsity lockers. The lockers resemble college team rooms, each two feet wide with a personal shelf, hanging rod, and locking footlocker. Every player in the program has his own stool to change in and lounge around in. The new team room also serves all the program's storage needs, and has updated bathroom and shower facilities. A new couch and sofa (in blue of course!) provide a relaxing space before and after practice. Moreover, each team can now take advantage of our 8-ft screen projection system, complete with wireless speakers, for film review or entertainment.
