Blue Devils Down Algonac, Look to Avenge Loss

2/08/2009

Friday night, the Blue Devils used a stingy half court defense and some timely shooting to defeat Algonac, 42-33. The win keeps the Blue Devils in the hunt for the league championship, remaining one game back of league-leader Armada (7-1 in conference) and tied with Imlay City (6-2 conference) for second place.

Against Algonac, Richmond held the host Muskrats scoreless for the entire third period, expanding a halftime lead into a 32-12 advantage heading into the fourth. The hosts fought back, however, trimming the lead all the way down to seven points before some late Devil free throws sealed the win. The Blue Devils now stand at 11-3 overall this season, with important home games against Capac and Imlay City this coming week.

Richmond looks to avenge their first defeat this season when the Chiefs come to town. Richmond lost its first game of the season at Capac on January 13. Jon Botwin nailed a long jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining to cap a late Capac comeback. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 this Tuesday night. Come support your Richmond Blue Devils!
