Richmond withstood a late comeback by Marine City to win their district tournament opener, 52-47. Junior Dustin Dagastino led the home team with 14 points and 3 rebounds, and senior Matt Pozolo contributed 13 points in the winning effort. Jesse Depauw grabbed 9 rebounds, helping the Blue Devils out-rebound the Mariners, 33-18.

Richmond led 42-27 after opening the fourth quarter with a 14-6 run. However, Marine City stormed back to pull within two points (48-46) with under a minute left. Pozolo and Depauw sealed the win with a pair of free throws each for the final margin of victory.

Richmond next takes on the St. Clair Saints in the District semifinals. Richmond defeated the Saints earlier this season on a last-second layup by Chris Schroudt. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 11.
